Thomas Byelick named to Southern Conference Academic Honor Roll

Thomas Byelick of Lawrenceville, GA (30044) was one of 163 Citadel cadet-athletes named to the 2017-18 Southern Conference Academic Honor Roll.

Byelick was a member of the 2017-18 Citadel baseball team.

The Southern Conference Academic Honor Roll consists of student-athletes at member institutions who achieve at least a 3.0 grade-point average for the academic year while being a member of the final squad list during their sport’s traditional season. Recipients must have been eligible to compete throughout the entire academic year.

Dustin Dalton named to Dean’s List at University of North Georgia

Dustin Scott Dalton of Auburn, GA, made the summer 2018 Dean’s List at the University of North Georgia (UNG) for achieving at least a 3.5 grade point average, carrying 12 or more credit hours in one semester and having no grade lower than B.

The deans of each of UNG’s five colleges – the College of Arts & Letters, the College of Education, the College of Health Sciences & Professions, the Mike Cottrell College of Business, and the College of Science & Mathematics – announced the names of those students who made their respective lists.

Christopher Patrick graduates from University of North Georgia

Christopher Matthew Candel Patrick of Lawrenceville, GA, graduated from the University of North Georgia (UNG) during the summer 2018 semester and has earned the Bachelor of Science in computer science.

The University of North Georgia held commencement exercises for some 250 graduates on August 3 at the Convocation Center on UNG’s Dahlonega Campus. For summer semester, UNG awarded some 430 degrees and certificates.

UNG alumnus Dr. Stephen Pruitt, president of the Southern Regional Education Board, was the keynote speaker at the commencement. He encouraged the graduates to remember how important UNG has been to them.

“What North Georgia did for me was help me realize I always had a seat at the big table,” Pruitt said.

Separate commissioning ceremonies were held earlier Aug. 3 for 11 members of the Corps of Cadets entering the armed forces as second lieutenants. The individual ceremonies attended by families, friends, faculty, and staff recognized the cadets’ service and leadership. Later, during the main commencement ceremony, the cadets again were recognized for their service and repeated their oaths, after which they received a standing ovation from the crowd.

Samantha Dean graduates from University of North Georgia

Samantha Leslie Dean of Lawrenceville, GA, graduated from the University of North Georgia (UNG) during the summer 2018 semester and has earned the Bachelor of Science in human services delivery & administration.
