Commissioner Hunter

Join us at the Commission meeting on Jan 24th.  And sign the petition

Last Tuesday, a large group of Gwinnett citizens spoke at the Gwinnett County Commission meeting concerning Commissioner Hunter’s uncalled for remarks about John Lewis and the name calling of almost 50% of his constituents. Each person who spoke called for Mr. Hunter’s resignation. But he has refused to resign.

It is inappropriate to call a sitting Congressman a “racist pig” and it is further inappropriate to call 50% of your own constituents “libtards”, “demon rats”, and idiots. If you publicly have no respect for those you represent, you need to step down.

We need to keep the pressure on. I urge you to sign this petition which was created by some of my constituents involved with Delta Sigma Theta. They plan to share the latest petition count at the next Board of Commission meeting scheduled on Tuesday January 24th.

It is important that everybody speaks up to tell offending public officials that this behavior is unacceptable.

Always 100,

Dewey McClain

District 100

Repealing Obamacare

When Trump or Paul Ryan say they want to replace the Affordable Care Act (ACA) with “Health Savings Accounts” (HSAs), they are also saying they want to replace Obamacare or Medicare or Medicaid with YOU paying for your healthcare.

That means YOU pay for chemotherapy… YOU pay for all surgeries and hospitalization… YOU pay for all your family’s doctor visits, urgent care, ER visits, and prescription drugs out-of-our-pocket.

A Health Savings Account (HSA) is just a tax-free way for you to save up money to pay for your own medical bills. So if you are paying off college loans, or saving for a house down-payment, or simply living paycheck to paycheck, guess what — a Health Savings Account (HSA) does you no good, because you have no discretionary funds to deposit into it. And even if you manage to save five grand or ten grand in an HSA, that could all get wiped out in one hospital visit for you or a family member. Then you are back to square zero again. Even if you can supplement your HSA with affordable health insurance, you will be eating away at money that you should be investing for your retirement or your kids’ college tuition. Only the top 3-5% of Americans can save enough for retirement, college AND their own out-of-pocket medical expenses. Therefore, the tax benefits of HSA’s only help those people.

CALL your Congress member to protest this!

Twins receive outstanding Georgia citizens Award

Gwinnett County Twins receive the Outstanding

Georgia Citizens Award

(Lawrenceville, Ga., Dec. 6, 2016) – Two Gwinnett County teens will be honored for going above and beyond in their dedication to the well-being of the state. Lauren and Steven Grant Seroyer will be presented with the Outstanding Georgia Citizens Award by District 100 State House Representative Dewey McClain. The presentation will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 10 at Shorty Howell Park Activity Building. The twins attend Peachtree Ridge High School and have created the C.A.R.E (Community Assistance Resource Effort) Closet after a conversation with a classmate who was hungry and had no access to food at home. The C.A.R.E Closet is a confidential school-based food pantry sponsored by various high school clubs, local businesses and non-profit organizations to provide their peers and community members with a basic need that is essential for their academic success.

Lauren worked with counselors to make sure the closet is confidential, so no child would have to be embarrassed to ask for help. The twins found support from all the classmates and different clubs in school. With the success of the C.A.R.E Closet, Lauren applied and was one of two Spark Award recipients from the local chapter of the United Way. The organization was awarded $25,000 to help launch this program in other schools in the Gwinnett County. State House Representative Dewey McClain said, “I am very proud of the accomplishments of the twins, they are role models and citizens we like to have in our community.” Representative Dewey McClain is also a board member of the Gwinnett Parks Foundation.

Gwinnett County Parks and Recreation, recently named the number one agency in the state by the Georgia Recreation and Park Association, provides high quality, broad-based parks, facilities, programs and services creating a sense of community, enabling a safe and secure environment, and enhancing Gwinnett’s quality of life.
