, Joint Statement from the Gwinnett Democratic Legislative Caucus in Support of the Gwinnett Transit Referendum
As lawmakers representing Gwinnett County, we are united in urging our community to vote YES on the upcoming transit referendum on November 5th. This referendum is a historic opportunity to address one of the most serious challenges we face: traffic congestion.
By expanding our public transit options and installing smart, synchronized traffic lights, Gwinnett residents will see more green lights and stay moving so they spend less time in traffic and get where they need to go.
In addition to improving traffic flow, this referendum will ensure that residents—no matter where they live—have the options they need to get to work, school, the doctor, or wherever life takes them. Expanding coverage will benefit everyone, especially those who depend on reliable transportation to access essential services, such as seniors, people with disabilities, our veterans, students and essential workers. This includes Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) options and on-demand shuttles countywide.
Moreover, the referendum is an investment in our local economy. This referendum will create more jobs and boost long-term economic growth, and will mean increased access to businesses, employment, and educational opportunities across the county.
This is a plan that meets the needs of Gwinnett’s diverse and rapidly growing population. By reducing traffic congestion, making commuting easier for everyone, and creating jobs, this referendum will improve the quality of life in Gwinnett County.
We, the undersigned, are proud to stand together in support of this critical initiative and encourage every Gwinnett County voter to join us in voting YES for the transit referendum. Let’s build a better future together—one that keeps Gwinnett moving forward.
