Absentee Voting

I have some good news on voting in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic. Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger has ordered that all voters be mailed absentee ballot request forms for the June 9 primary. Absentee voting will allow you to vote from home.

Keep in mind, this is an absentee ballot REQUEST and not the actual absentee ballot. Here are the steps you must take when you receive this request so you can obtain the actual ballot.

  1. Check your voting registration status at https://www.mvp.sos.ga.gov/MVP/mvp.do
  2. Fill out the absentee ballot request.  You must select the ballot you want.  Democrat or Other
  3. PUT A STAMP on the application and mail it back so you can receive your ACTUAL absentee ballot
  4. Wait for your absentee ballot.
  5. Read the instructions on the absentee ballot and fill it out.
  6. PUT A STAMP on your absentee ballot and put it in the mail

I know you have many other questions so I will try to answer some of them.

Q.  I already voted in the Presidential Primary.  What will my ballot look like?
A.  Your ballot will only have the local and state races on it. No Presidential candidates.

Q.  I didn’t get to vote in the Presidential Primary.  Will I get to do it on June 9?
A.  Yes,  Your ballot will contain all the candidates for the Presidential Preference Primary along with the state and local races.

Q.  What do I do if I do not receive an absentee voting application in the mail?
A.  You can request one yourself here – https://sos.ga.gov/admin/files/Absentee_Ballot_Application_2018.pdf

Q.  Whom should I call if I have problems with my absentee ballot?
A.  Call the GA Democratic Party Voter Protection hot line at  1-888-730-5816

Q. Who counts the ballots?
A.  Each election office in each county counts the votes and those totals are uploaded to the state. The counting has always been at the county level.

This is the only opportunity you will have to vote for the Judges for Gwinnett County unless there are run-offs
