Public Education funding is the biggest part of the State’s budget. However Georgia Republicans seem to want to use it for their own friends in the form of school vouchers. The Georgia House just passed SB 233 which provides school vouchers for private schools.
Republicans could do a lot of things to help public schools. They could update the Georgia’s Quality Basic Education formula, which funds our public schools and they could provide additional funds for impoverished students.
But instead, they pass SB 233. This bill is not helpful to poor students and only helps wealthy students who are already going to private schools. This bill is what Republicans call a hand out.
Please contact the Governor Kemp and ask him to veto the bill when it comes across his desk.
