Special Session 2023
After Thanksgiving, I will be attending a special session of the State Legislature to redraw the political maps that determine Georgia’s congressional and legislative boundaries.
We don’t usually meet at the end of the year, but we are doing this because U.S. District Court Judge Steve C. Jones ruled that the state’s 2021 maps illegally dilute Black voting strength and violate Section 2 of the Voting Rights Act.
We have until December 8, 2023 to finish this task. This should be a very interesting week.
